What is happening?

​A gathering with other black folks/creatives to weave on hand looms with California's natural ~organic~plant & hand dyed~ fibers with artist & reforming ecologist Flore Costumé.

How we doing it?

​We will use materials like wool yarn, hand held looms, to explore the basics of weaving.

​We will start with grounding with teh body & Land, re-membering with our hands.

​Receive demonstration on how to dress a loom from Flore & verbal instructions.

​Offered space to practice having weaving techniques and create small works while contemplating our ecological relations & remembering our deep rooted connection with textiles. Group learning and skill building will be strongly encouraged :)

​This is for your if you want to learn more about weaving in a open & relaxed space with kin folk.

Who?

Flore Costumé (they/li/he) is a black neuroqueering Haitian artist devoted to craft, plants, and ecological care. They create with natural fibers such as organic cotton, linen, and wool along with plant derived/plant based colors. They work with those materials in hand weaving, fabric & yarn dyeing, creating artist materials such as inks. Their work is devotional and centers my hyperlocal ecological context while uplifting the Haitian cultural technology of lakou.
